There are three Vision Resource Centres in Alberta. They are located in Lethbridge, Calgary and Edmonton. They provide professional development for teachers, parents and other professionals. They also offer short-term programs for students that focus on one or more of the components of the Expanded Core Curriculum as outlined in Alberta Education’s Essential Components of Educational Programming for Students who are Blind or Visually Impaired. These short-term programs are offered to students throughout Alberta and provide support in the development of disability-specific skills.
In addition, there are three Regional Consulting Teams and other agencies that provide services for students who are blind or visually impaired.
