ASVI Calgary is a registered non-profit society formed in the early 1970's to be a resource to visually impaired children and their families. It strongly believes that each visually impaired child can fully develop his/her physical, mental and social skills according to his/her capacity when given the opportunity through fair and equal access to orientation and mobility, educational programming, adaptive equipment and software, adaptations to materials and properly trained personnel.
ASVI Calgary believes that many positive and essential changes occur when parents are included as partners in the education of their children. ASVI also believes that education for parents with visually impaired children will lead to proper intervention and access to necessary resources and contributes to the development of a more confident and successful student.
ASVI Calgary cooperates with other agencies and organizations that are interested in fulfilling the needs of visually impaired children (CNIB, Vision Centre etc.)
