The Travelling Low Vision Clinic represents a collaboration between the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, Alberta Education, CNIB and Alberta Health Services, and is designed to provide comprehensive low vision care for children and youth with low vision in Alberta. The clinic uses an interdisciplinary approach, bringing together resources from health, education and the community to ensure that each child has the assessment, treatment plan, and intervention that they require pertaining to their visual impairment. The clinic team is comprised of an ophthalmologist, an optometrist, teachers for the visually impaired, and an orientation and mobility specialist. The Travelling Low Vision Clinic is designed to provide equitable access to all children and youth in the Province, as clinics will take place in various centres across Alberta. Parents, teachers, student services coordinators, and other members of the school team are encouraged to attend the appointment.
