Characteristics of Canadian School-Aged Children Who Read Braille

Through the support of the Canadian Braille Literacy Foundation and the Canadian Braille Authority (CBA), this comprehensive study was able to gather current information from a sample of the estimated 678 Canadian school-aged students who use braille. Two hundred and seventy responses were collected from the widely distributed survey, enabling the researchers to gather information about students from across Canada. A wealth of data was collected about the characteristics of these braille-using students, which will help to guide future research projects, as well as revise instructional programs and practices that are already in place.
